Mornings can be tough. Around here, during the school week, it’s full of getting kids ready on time, making sure lunches are made, remembering that form and this paper. It gets hectic and often I find myself skipping breakfast. Which leads to terrible eating habits throughout the day. One of my goals this year is to develop better habits and I’m starting with this list of healthy eating habits.
So if you’re like me and need some good keto breakfast choices, check out this list. It doesn’t have to be complicated. And if you’re not doing a keto lifestyle, but are curious – check out this post all about keto which is great for beginners.
Keto Breakfast Ideas
Omelets are an easy way to make a breakfast that’s packed full of protein, fat, and minimal carbs which is perfect for keto. Scramble two eggs, add a cup of spinach, a few cherry tomatoes, some bacon bits, and shredded cheese. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water with breakfast too!
This is one of my favorites and it’s so easy and delicious. You can make it on Sunday and eat it throughout the week for breakfast. I’ve made this many times and it turns out perfect every time. The best part is I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to eat. I just cut a slice, heat in the microwave for about 45 seconds and add some grated cheese. Get my full recipe here!
Smoothies are a perfect keto breakfast choice because they’re relatively easy to prepare. And you can make it and take it with you on your way out the door! And this Strawberry Avocado smoothie from Wholesome Yum needs only 4 ingredients!! It doesn’t get much easier than this to help keep your keto morning in check.
You’ll obviously need to plan ahead if you want keto pancakes for breakfast, but these are a great alternative to traditional carb filled pancakes. And this recipe from Low Carb Spark is amazing. There are some mornings that you just don’t want eggs again and it helps to have variety so you don’t get bored. And who doesn’t love pancakes???
A typical banana nut muffin can add up to nearly 30 grams of carbs. When you’re shooting for between 25 and 50 grams total per day, you can’t afford to spend 30 of those carbs on one muffin for breakfast. However, this genius recipe for Keto Banana Nut Muffins from Hey Keto Mama is only around 7 grams per muffin! So you CAN have muffins on keto – you just need to learn to modify the recipes!
This is one I haven’t tried, but it’s on my list. I love tacos (who doesn’t??) and it’ll be a nice variety of flavors for breakfast. Full of flavor and protein, it’ll keep you full for hours – get the full recipe from Peace Love and Low Carb.
And another smoothie option that’s full of flavor and only 11 grams of carbs is this deliciousness from All Day I Dream About Food. Smoothies are a great way to get a quick and healthy breakfast – add a few ingredients to the blender, pour and go!
So you’ve got eggs, smoothies, muffins, casseroles, and pancakes! So many choices to help keep your keto breakfast ideas healthy and delicious. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Pick a few options when you do a weekly meal plan – if you include breakfast, you’re guaranteed to start the day off right.
