DIY Dog Leash Holder

It’s no secret that I have a thing for dogs! Clearly – I named my first blog after my own rescue dog Charlie. He’s been with us for 11 years and counting. Best. Dog. Ever. When you have a dog, you have a leash. And you need somewhere to hang that leash. So today, I’m showing you how to a DIY dog leash holder for those special fur babies in your life.  It’ll take you about 10 minutes and less than $5. And it’s simple and basic – no fancy skills required!

This is short and sweet.

Supplies for the DIY Dog Leash Holder

  • scrap wood (mine is a scrap 2×4 that I cut down to about 6″ in length)
  • hooks
  • command strips or any other way to attach it to the wall
  • paint
  • drill/screwdriver

And that’s all you need!

We have a small area by the garage door with hooks that holds jackets, back packs, hats, and other random stuff that gets dumped in there.

Charlie dog is a little special. He can’t use just a regular leash and collar. He’s got a big head, but that joker figured out how to turn around and slip right out of his collar/leash once.

And if you want a laugh, picture this girl – 8 months pregnant in the Georgia July heat trying to chase after her wild dog. It wasn’t pretty. Anyway, after that, he graduated to one of those stretchy nylon collars.

However, he’s had some neck/shoulder injuries so now he has a harness. Needless to say, the harness takes up a lot of room in our little mudroom area. So that’s where this DIY comes in. Brown dog is getting his own hooks!

DIY

Cut down your wood to whatever size you want. If you have multiple fur babies, then I would make it a little longer than 6 inches so everyone can have their own hook. Paint it any color you want.

I used brown and painted a white paw on it. Let it dry and then attach your hooks. Drill a small pilot hole with your drill so your screws will go in easier and then add your hooks. Throw some command strips on the back and wallah! You are done and your sweet fur baby has their own DIY leash holder.

And here’s a pic of my sweet brown dog Charlie that inspired this easy DIY Leash Holder!

I need to make a leash holder. We can NEVER find the leash when we are wanting to walk the dog because it gets put away in all sorts of weird places. #HomeMattersParty
